SLM Architecture, P.C. is serving as Architect of Record for the substantial rehabilitation of 312 affordable units across 17 buildings owned and managed by the Morrisania Revitalization Corporation (MRC), a nonprofit dedicated to strengthening the Morrisania community since 1981. MRC provides affordable housing, economic opportunities, and a range of social services to local families.
In partnership with Kalel Companies, the project will include tenant-in-place renovations such as roof and window replacements, boiler upgrades, façade repairs, elevator and common area improvements, and full kitchen and bathroom modernizations within each unit. Select apartments will also receive UFAS-compliant accessibility upgrades.
This effort reinforces MRC’s mission to deliver not only quality housing, but also essential community services like homeownership counseling to youth education and food access. In a neighborhood where economic stability and housing are in high demand, the project invests in long-term vitality and the residents who call Morrisania home.
