Location: Mineola, NY (Hybrid: 3 days in-office, 2 days remote)
Salary Range: $125,000 – $145,000 per year (based on experience), Plus Performance-Based Incentives

The Opportunity

Our firm is at an inflection point. While our design work continues to thrive, we recognize the need for sharper financial stewardship to support sustainable growth. We currently have a bookkeeper and an external accountant, but we now need a strategic financial executive who can take ownership of our financial health, improve cash flow management, and partner with leadership to unlock new revenue opportunities. This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives in a dynamic, creative environment and wants to shape the financial future of a growing architecture practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all financial operations of the firm, including cash flow management, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Develop and execute financial strategies that strengthen profitability and enable sustainable growth.
  • Manage relationships with lenders, financial institutions, and external partners to secure credit lines or loans as needed.
  • Work closely with leadership to improve billing, collections, and invoicing efficiency.
  • Analyze financial performance and provide actionable insights for decision-making and revenue growth.
  • Implement financial controls, systems, and processes to support the company’s evolving needs.
  • Partner with project managers to evaluate project profitability and budgeting accuracy.
  • Advise ownership on financial modeling, resource allocation, and investment decisions.
  • Mentor and collaborate with the existing bookkeeper and accountant to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements, variance analysis, and KPI dashboards.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration (MBA or CPA preferred).
  • 8+ years of progressive financial management experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership or CFO-level role.
  • Proven success managing cash flow and budgets for professional service firms, ideally in architecture, engineering, or design.
  • Strong understanding of project-based financials, billing cycles, and client contract structures.
  • Skilled in financial modeling, forecasting, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Experience securing and managing credit lines or business loans.
  • Ability to streamline financial processes and implement systems improvements.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and advise senior leadership.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks or similar) and advanced use of Excel or other financial analysis tools.

Work Schedule & Benefits:
